The International Contemporary Ensemble's Call For__ initiative commissions two individual or collective practitioners of performed sound to create a new work for the International Contemporary Ensemble. In addition to a world premiere of their piece, artists also receive mentorship, workshop time, audiovisual documentation and a commissioning honorarium. This wonderful opportunity is made possible in part by the Jerome Foundation's generous support.
We're thrilled to announce the two selected composers: Lester St. Louis and Camila Agosto. Read more about these amazing artists below!
Lester St. Louis (b.1993) is a New York born and based Composer and Cellist. His artistic work crosses disciplinary boundaries and develops formats in which improvisation is articulated as a basic prerequisite and mode of creative sociality. This work is particularly focused on performance, installation, curation, and recording; and rooted in ecstatic sound worlds, interaction and flow.
An Avid collaborator, Camila Agosto is an electroacoustic composer, interdisciplinary artist, and educator based in New York. Her work is inspired by memory, perception, psychoacoustics, and somatic experiences. She partners with musicians, visual artists, instrument builders, and choreographers to discover the intersections of her work with additional artistic fields.
