Thank you to all who joined us last season for our TUES@7 programs! It was a fantastic opportunity to consistently engage with members and collaborators of the Ensemble, and connect with the community as well. Artists reflected on past world premieres, pulled back the curtain on works-in-process, and explored the Digitice archive to see how collaborations, new works, and sound creations have blossomed over the past 19 years. Thank you again for being with us in this virtual space, a destination to experience extraordinary new music together.
With live performances back we’re still trying to maintain the spirit of live streaming of some of our performances while making our projects as accessible as possible through documentation and publishing on our Digitice platform. Here is the archive of everything that happened 2020-2021:

Field Auras
International Contemporary Ensemble saxophonist Ryan Muncy has been working with Wojtek Blecharz (composer) and Nicolas Navarro Rueda (visual artist, designer, fashion designer) on an installation project which centers around queer identities and experiences during COVID-19.
from scratch ii
TUES@7 “From Scratch” focuses on new collaborations with recordings taking place from the Ensemble’s studio space in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY. World premiere of a set of quartet music by Josh Modney (violin/composition), written for and performed alongside acclaimed creative musicians Ingrid Laubrock (saxophones), Cory Smythe (piano), and Mariel Roberts (cello). Second set features a new collaboration between Rebekah Heller (bassoon) and Fay Victor (voice).
Creating new work
A program focused on creation, collaboration, and process with Jennifer Curtis, Pauchi Sasaki, Rebekah Heller, and Clifton Joey Guidry III. Including the world premiere of Guidry's How hot is the sand at 6pm? performed by Heller.

International Contemporary Ensemble members Isabel Lepanto Gleicher (flute) and Nuiko Wadden (harp), and composer-performer Brittany J. Green present a program focused on the different meanings of “Home” through the lens of fractured and fractal experiences during this time of COVID-19.
mata’s radical pairings part 1
Radical Pairings 1 brings together Maurizio Azzan’s exploratory Geometrie nelle mani for solo guitar with Yvette Janine Jackson’s meditative yet resolute Deliberate (Afraid of Nothing) for percussion and electronics. The program will also feature newly-written solo works by each composer. Featuring percussionist Colleen Bernstein and guitarist Jordan Dodson, this program showcases both sonic curiosity and emotional resilience.

Ryan Streber, Ash Fure, Wendy Richman, José-Luis Hurtado, Nate Wooley, and Jacob Greenberg pull back the curtain on the process behind creating an album.
Mount Tremper Arts Residency
A presentation of material from some new projects that are in the works and reflection back on 10 years of developing radical new work at Mount Tremper Arts (MTA) with David Lang, Suzanne Farrin, Sabrina Schroeder, Pauline Oliveros, IONE, and more. Featuring music by Rick Burkhardt, Bahar Royaee, and Pauline Oliveros & IONE.
mata’s radical pairings part 2
Radical Pairings 2 features saxophonist Ryan Muncy performing both Evan Williams’s Rock Steady and recent for loops, as well as two works for voice and DIY instruments by composer-performer Bethany Younge. Younge is joined by soprano Charlotte Mundy. This evocative program juxtaposes rhythmic virtuosity and groove with the otherworldly soundscape produced by found percussion and the human voice.

inescapable spiral remote (world premiere)
Nicole Mitchell – alongside musicians from International Contemporary Ensemble and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago as well as special guests Helga Davis, Li Harris, and IONE – presents her Inescapable Spiral Remote. Commissioned by International Contemporary Ensemble in 2017, Mitchell has reimagined the piece for pre-recorded and live performances that are created remotely and mixed live online.
From Scratch
Kyle Armbrust (viola), Jacob Greenberg (piano), Daniel Lippel (guitar), and Wendy Richman (viola) present an evening featuring works originally written for them, highlighting the collaborative process behind works by Vijay Iyer, Phyllis Chen, Sérgio Kafejian, and Arlene Sierra.

Motherhood & Artistry
Alice Teyssier presents an evening of discussions and works-in-progress relating to her project on mothering and artistry. Collaborators and guests include Zosha Di Castri, Vivian Fung, Elizabeth Hoffman, Ashley Jackson, Clara Latham, Wang Lu, and Irene Quero.
ifca works for strings
An evening of exploring string works by members of the Iranian Female Composers Association: Niloufar Nourbakhsh, Bahar Royaee, Homa Samiei, Rojin Sharafi, and Anahita Abbasi.

International Contemporary Ensemble’s Jennifer Curtis is joined by Diali Cissokho for an evening of violin and kora.
The Musicality of Light
Nick Houfek guides us through a throwback to light organs of the early 20th century and looks forward to new options for today. In his creation of a light synthesizer prototype, he explores the musicality of light with Elizabeth A. Baker, mediaqueer, and Viola Yip.
REACTOR
David Byrd-Marrow presents an evening of solo works by himself, Jerome Naulais, and Paul Wiancko. Visual art by Denver based painter and tattoo artist Kayla Gohm Webster accompanies the performances.
4G: Four Generations of mexican sonic arts
International Contemporary Ensemble’s percussionist Nathan Davis and clarinetist Joshua Rubin return to works by Mexican composers performed back in the first decade of the Ensemble’s history.

Composer, Performer, Improviser, and Artist of “Creative Defiance” Matana Roberts meets up with International Contemporary Ensemble oboist James Austin Smith for an exploration of process, creativity, and craft.

Isabel Lepanto Gleicher is joined by composer, drummer, educator and scholar Jessie Cox, and revolutionary freedom artist MC Spiritchild for an evening in exploring new ways to collaborate and develop sound.
Cellos and the Vibrational Afterlife of Chemical Residue
International Contemporary Ensemble’s cellist Katinka Kleijn is joined by cellist, composer, and improviser Aliya Ultan in a performance-discussion on pushing the boundaries of cello performance, using other sonic materials to vibrate and interact with the cello.
