International Contemporary Ensemble’s percussionist Nathan Davis and clarinetist Joshua Rubin return to works by Mexican composers performed back in the first decade of the Ensemble’s history. The Ensemble’s first self-produced festival in New York was in 2008, “3G: Three Generations of Mexican Composers,” which supported the debuts of 14 Mexican artists from three generations (ages 18 to 81) in eight unique concerts, public talks, and community events throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan, with 20 premieres over the course of a week. Davis and Rubin return to works by Marisol Jiménez, Sandra Lemus, Julio Estrada, Édgar Guzmán, and Wilfrido Terrazas in a performance-discussion, and present new works by 4th generation composers Andrea González and Fernanda Cabral Kañetas.
Featuring:
David Schotzko (ICEensemble founding member, percussionist) in conversation with Julio Estrada about the work that he commissioned from Estrada for the 3G Festival in 2008.
ICEensemble cellist Katinka Kleijn in performance with Davis and Rubin for a trio by Fernanda Cabral Kañetas.

About TUES@7
“Tues@7” are regular opportunities to engage with members and collaborators of the International Contemporary Ensemble. Artists will reflect on past world premieres, pull back the curtain on upcoming works-in-process, and dig deeply into the DigitICE archive to see how collaborations, new works, and sound creations have blossomed over the past 19 years. We look forward to staying engaged in the virtual space through COVID-19 so that our audience and collaborators have a weekly destination for extraordinary new music.
