Join us as we celebrate the album release of Nathan Davis’s Hagoromo on Tundra Records! Recorded live at BAM’s Next Wave Festival in 2015, this album showcases ICE with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, conducted by Nicholas DeMaison.
For this special release event, flutist Claire Chase and bassoonist Rebekah Heller play extended excerpts from the opera, as well as Nathan’s On Speaking a Hundred Names, which provided inspiration for the work.
Nathan Davis’ original score was created through ICE’s First Page commissioning program in memory of Claude Arpels and thanks to the lead support of Van Cleef & Arpels, Marisa Arpels, and Claude J. Arpels. Libretto by Brendan Pelsue commissioned by American Opera Projects. Hagoromo received production development support from American Dance Institute (ADI)’s Incubator residency program. Original production conceived and directed by David Michalek.
Performances and commissioning activities during the 2018-19 concert season are made possible by the generous support of The Andrew W.
