William McDaniel, Executive Director

Hailing from the Washington, D.C. area, William McDaniel graduated from Oberlin Conservatory in 2002 with a degree in Piano Performance where he studied with Lydia Frumkin. In addition to awards and competition prizes, he has appeared in recitals as both soloist and in chamber music across the country in such locales at San Diego, Cleveland, New York, and the Washington area, and at such venues as the John F. Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall, where he made his solo debut in 1998 as a guest of the Russian-American Music Association. William has also given performances abroad in Moscow, Geneva, and across Holland. He made his debut with the National Symphony Orchestra in 2000. He has also made radio appearances on WQXR in New York and WFMT in Chicago. While at Oberlin, William was extremely active as a chamber musician, performed frequently with the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, studied harpsichord and historical performance under Barbara Weiss and Lisa Goode Crawford, and made his debut as a composer.

William is an original member of the ensemble and joined ICE for their Chicago premiere in January, 2002. He was active as pianist/keyboardist and composer with ICE for several years, and remained on the board of directors from 2002 through 2016. After management roles in the for-profit sector at Gap Inc. and McMaster-Carr in areas such as merchandising, inventory management, publishing, and trade compliance, he joined the ICE staff as Executive Director in January 2017.
