A MESSAGE FROM CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ASSOCIATION (CSOA):
CHICAGO—The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association (CSOA) announces that CSOA-presented concerts and events at Symphony Center and at offsite community locations, scheduled through June 9, are canceled in cooperation with community-wide efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Browse a complete listing of canceled CSOA-presented concerts and events through Tuesday, June 9 on the event calendar. Pre- and post-concert events are also canceled. The CSOA is reviewing opportunities to reschedule affected programs in subsequent seasons.
Stay connected with the CSO From Home: During this period, personal messages from musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra are being shared regularly on the CSO’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels, with additional audio and video content available online on CSO Sounds & Stories and YouTube.

MusicNOW celebrates the 55th anniversary of Chicago’s own Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), founded in May 1965. The AACM pays homage to the diverse styles of expression within the body of Black Music in the US, Africa and throughout the world, an experience that extends from ancient traditions to futuristic sounds. On May 18, the CSO will honor the organization’s long history and its profound impact on modern music.
The International Contemporary Ensemble is joined by Musicians from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for a special encore performance of music by Nicole Mitchell and George Lewis.

Nicole Mitchell’s Inescapable Spiral (2017) was commissioned by the International Contemporary Ensemble, with lead support from Oscar Gerardo, through ICE’s First Page initiative.
George Lewis’ P. Multitudinis (2018) was commissioned by the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity 2018, for Ensemble Evolution, with support from the Gay Mitchell and Archie McIntosh Creation Endowment Fund.
