"In our seventh season of OpenICE programming, we are excited to collaborate with talented thinkers and performers of the New School to bring new works to new audiences around New York City."

- Ross Karre, co-artistic director

ICEensemble brings open, inclusive, and collaborative programming to the classroom at the New School's College of Performing Arts.

Working within each part of the artist / administrator / advocate trifecta, COPA students will work side-by-side with ICEensemble members to create four free, public events and a substantial online presence. Each event will include new works by living artist-creators supporting socially responsible curating, in so doing expanding the ecosystem of contemporary performing arts to be more welcoming, generous, and open. At the end of the semester, every student will understand the fundamentals of creative producing and self-presentation. With a new set of tools for how to create an open engagement series, students will also be challenged to ask and answer why their program designs cultivate a more inclusive community of arts and culture. Established in 2014, OpenICE is an artist-curated series of free events hosted by the International Contemporary Ensemble. Collaborative in nature and interdisciplinary by design, OpenICE takes a holistic view of performing arts events: program design, preparation, sound-light-video-stage design, audience engagement, marketing, and digital storytelling are owned by the artists.
