The exciting annual New Music Gathering features the best new music performers and ensembles from across the country for memorable concerts, workshops, and panel discussions.  ICE flutist and founder Claire Chase speaks on building communities in new music, and ICE percussionist and Production Director Ross Karre speaks on commissioning new music.  Then, Karre and ICE saxophonist Ryan Muncy present music featuring electronics, commissioned by ICE.  In addition to works by leading American composers Erin Gee, Marcos Balter, and Natacha Diels, the event will feature a piece by Monte Webber, selected from ICEcommons (icecommons.org) -- the ensemble's public, crowdsourced index of contemporary music.

This concert program emphasizes ways in which composers and performers discover, connect, and build relationships -- both in person and digitally -- to advance the art form.

Erin Gee (b. 1974): Mouthpiece XXIV (2015) for tenor saxophone and percussion (commissioned by ICE)
