JOHN ADAMS

One of America’s most admired and respected composers, John Adams (1947) is a musician of enormous range and technical command. He was awarded the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for On the Transmigration of Souls, a choral piece commemorating the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks, and has won five Grammy Awards.  His many operatic and symphonic works stand out among contemporary classical compositions for their depth of expression, their sonic brilliance, and the profoundly humanist nature of their themes.
