DAI FUJIKURA

Dai Fujikura was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1977. A protégé of Pierre Boulez, he came to London at the age of 15 and gained international recognition by winning a number of prestigious prizes including the Serocki International Composers’ Competition, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Young Composers’ Award,  the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Composition Prize and the Internationaler Wiener Composition Prize. Many of the world’s leading contemporary ensembles and orchestras have commissioned and performed Fujikura’s works including Ensemble Modern, The Asko/Schönberg Ensemble, London Sinfonietta, Nieuw Ensemble, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Intercontemporain, the International Contemporary Ensemble, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
