An inquisitive explorer of sounds orchestral and electronic, musical and textual, Olga Neuwirth returns to Miller. A student of Nono and Murail, the Austrian composer first burst onto the international scene at age 22, when her operas premiered at the Vienna Festival; debuts at Salzburg and Lucerne soon followed. The International Contemporary Ensemble gives the U.S. premiere of her “inexplicably profound” (Financial Times) work, ce qui arrive, with text by Paul Auster, Andrew Patner, and Georgette Dee, alongside her dramatic piano concerto, locus...doublure...solus.
Program:
locus...doublure...solus, for solo piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, keyboard, violin, viola, cello, bass (2010)
...ce qui arrive..., for ensemble, samples and live electronics; 3 songs on texts by Andrew Patner and Georgette Dee; fragments of text by Paul Auster (2012) U.S. PREMIERE
