Daniel Lippel, guitarist
Praised for his “precision and expressivity” by the Chicago Tribune, guitarist Daniel Lippel has performed throughout the United States, Western Europe, and Japan. His recent recitals include the Trinity Concert Series in New York, Guitars International Series at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Music from the Forefront at Bowling Green State University, as well as for the New York Classical Guitar Society, Boston Classical Guitar Society, and Ft. Worth Guitar Guild.
Particularly active as a new music performer, Lippel has been heard in recent solo performances at Harvard’s Paine Hall, Look and Listen Festival (NY), and Friends and Enemies of New Music (NY). His performances as a chamber musician include collaborations with the Cygnus Ensemble, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and the Argento Ensemble in such venues as Weill Hall, Merkin Hall, AKI New Music Festival, at Columbia and Princeton Universities, and on the Cooperstown and Newburyport Chamber Music Festivals. He has given masterclasses and guest lecture recitals at the University of North Texas, and Texas Christian University, Cleveland Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Bowling Green State University, and recently was awarded a grant by the Mikhashoff Trust for New Music to fund a chamber music recording of premieres. Lippel won first prizes in the Stafford (England), ASTA, and Boston Guitar Society competitions, and can be found on the web at www.danlippel.com. He joined ICE in 2005.
